First, for minor crimes, and in responsible households, a child will be released into their guardians. This will reduce the demand for beds in the juvenile sections of the jail. The child will be expected to go to school, and come home afterwards. They will not be allowed to “hang” out with their friends which is probably the bad crowd that got the child in trouble.
If the child is to go to juvenile detention because of circumstances, they will be provided with an education, and will have access to email?, and VOIP? to communicate with family. As with an adult inmate, the child will receive the I Series PDA which is an 8″ tablet that the child will use while incarcerated.
Juvenile detention will be divided into groups. No child under 8 years old will be in custody. Those committing crimes before the age of 8 years old will likely be placed in foster care rather than remain with the guardians that are not taking proper care of the child. The age groups are as follows:
- 8-11
- 12-15
- 16-18
